Preparations

We’re OFF!
April 25, 1997—John
Well, at least we’ve started our engines. The suitcases are packed (eight of them, counting our carry-ons but not counting a shopping bag full of teaching materials which we hope the airlines won’t notice). The stored items are all in boxes and toted to the cellar. The house is clean, thanks to two days of effort by Nancy—one day for the upstairs and another full day for the downstairs. The radios and CDs have been put away; the TV goes into a box and down to the cellar tonight. KJ is having us for dinner tonight, so the pots, pans, everyday silverware, and miscellaneous other kitchen gear have all been put away. Chris has been bringing in boxes from his attic (fearsome thought) and storing them in whatever niches remain in the cellar. He will put our suitcases in the van the last thing tonight, to save time in the morning when we leave early for the airport. (page 16)
